The $200,000 tournament now has a hometown favourite in the form of HAVU.
HAVU have accepted an invitation to attend Elisa Masters Espoo, with the roster set to compete at the $200,000 LAN event that will play out in their home country of Finland from November 16-20.
The Finnish quintet are the 10th lineup to be added to the team list. The remaining two spots will be filled by way of a direct invite and the victors of a yet-to-be-announced Elisa Invitational tournament.
HAVU are currently the lowest-ranked roster confirmed to attend the Nordic competition. The Joonas "doto" Forss-led lineup currently sit at No. 85 on the world ranking, a far cry from the organisation's previous peak at No. 14 back in April 2021.
Their current dip in form comes as a result of less-than-impressive results in the server recently. Their best showing was their surprisingly strong run through the CCT South Europe Series 1 event, where they finished in 5-8th place after being knocked out in the quarter-finals by FORZE.
Regardless, HAVU will look to use the prospect of playing in front of the home crowd as a way of creating a much-needed upswing in form. The side will need to make it out of groups to secure a stage appearance, an uphill battle given the six top-30 teams also set to be in attendance.
The tournament will also be one of the first events to be held following the conclusion of the IEM Rio Major; MOUZ, ENCE, fnatic, and GamerLegion will all make the trip to Espoo shortly after their respective campaigns in Brazil. Another noteworthy storyline is the in the shape of Nicolai "device" Reedtz, who will use the competition to make both his long-awaited return to professional play as well as his debut with Astralis — re-signing with the squad just last week.
